We’re Launching A Micro-Finance Programme!
Africa on the Ball are delighted to announce the launch of an exciting new programme. Our new innovative poverty eradicating microfinance programme will be launching in the Gambia in May 2017.
Microfinance is a source of financial services for entrepreneurs and small businesses lacking access to banking and related services and has grown in popularity across the world – helping to give people a hand up, not a hand out.
Here is a short film explaining how microfinancing works.
We are very positive about these steps for the charity and our first formal involvement in developmental work outside of Zambia. With the support and advice of Gambian Prince Sankanu, we have taken the necessary and appropriate steps to ensure this a sustainable project which makes a real difference to Gambian’s lives.
In addition to micro-loans, we’ll also be a operating mico-leasing project for entreprenuers, farmers and tradesmen that need tools to develop their own income. With that, we’re looking to collect the following items before our trip to Gambia next year to formerly launch the project:
- Sewing machines and tools for a tailoring shop,
- Tools for carpentry, welding and other artisan workshops,,
- Farming implements for agricultural scheme and rural construction,
- Tools for auto-repair,
- PC system for Internet café/community small business support centre,
- Kits for community football teams,
- First aid and OTC (Over the Counter) medical supplies.
If you have any of the above items you’d be willing to donate to Africa on the Ball for this specific purpose, please do get in touch with us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Equally, if you’d like to make a financial contribution to the start up of the programme, please do donate towards our work.
